Planning - Definitions & Descriptions:
Planning can be defined as an intellectually demanding process, which requires to Consciously determine course of action & base our decision on purpose, knowledge & considered estimates. It bridges the gap from where we are, to where we wanted to be.
PLANNING is a Process which begins with objectives, define strategies, policies & detailed Plans to achieve them, which establishes an organization to implement decisions & includes a review of performance & feed back to introduce a new planning cycle. It also helps people to know what they are expected to accomplish.
PLANNING is a conscious, systematic process, during which, decisions are made about the Goals & activities that an individual, Group, Work-unit or Organization will pursue in the future.
PLANNING provides the individual & Work-units with a Map to follow in their future activities. Always begin with a situation-analysis, moving through goals, alternative goals, solution or adopted solution.
PLANNING can be described as the process of making assumptions about the future, gathering facts & opinions, in order to visualize & achieve the proposed-activities. This involves establishing Objectives, Policies, Procedures, methods & rules.
The Management Process begins with Planning. Planning makes things happen, that would not otherwise occur. It involves four considerations:
1) Selecting Objectives & Goals,
2) Action to accomplish Task,
3) Innovative decision-Making,
4) Choosing Future Course of action.
